On a map, Sri Lanka looks small. On the road, it is slower than it looks, and that changes how a week should be planned.
Roads set the pace
Sri Lankan roads are busy and winding, so distances that look short can take half a day. The more days a route has, the less time you spend in the car each day, which is why we suggest longer trips for travellers who want to see more.
Our 7-day route
The 7-day Discover Sri Lanka route links Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, a Yala safari and Galle. It is a lively introduction, and the final airport transfer should be checked against your flight time.
Start with the places you care about most
Pick the two or three things you would be sad to miss, such as a heritage site, tea-country scenery or a safari, and build the route around them. Everything else can flex.
Leave room to breathe
A route with fewer overnight stops leaves time to walk a town, linger over a meal or simply rest.
Adjust before you confirm
Routes, pace and hotels can all change before the final quote. If a week feels tight, tell us, and we can look at ten days or at trimming a stop.
Not sure how long to allow? Our guide to choosing between 7, 10 and 14 days walks through the trade-offs.
